While its local roots and its long-standing relationships with the local bar and courts remain its foundation, the firm has established a state-wide and regional presence and reputation through its representation of businesses and individuals in all areas of the State and around the Southeast.  Over the decades that the firm has been in existence, our attorneys have developed a reputation as innovative counselors and aggressive advocates.  Out-of-state law firms regularly associate the firm to assist in local transactions and to serve as local counsel in litigation pending in Georgia.  Our attorneys have tried cases and have handled business and real estate transactions for clients around the Southeast.

The firm’s fundamental purpose is to provide a broad range of exceptional legal services to its clients.  The firm enjoys the highest “Peer Review Rating” possible, AV®, from Martindale-Hubbell, which indicates very high ethical standards and very high to preeminent legal ability.*   The firm is also recognized in the attorney referral guide, The Best Lawyers in America.  Four of our attorneys are members of the American College of Trial Lawyers, which recognizes no more than 1% of the total attorney population of any state.  Six of the firm’s attorneys have been selected by their peers as “Super Lawyers” and two as “Rising Stars” by Law & Politics Media/Atlanta Magazine.

The scope of services offered by the firm allows us to meet almost any legal need that our clients may have.  The firm is divided into practice groups, and our practice areas include: Real Estate; Business, Tax & Estate Planning; and Plaintiffs’ Litigation.

Each of our clients is regarded as a client of the entire firm, and work is allocated on the basis of the expertise and experience required by the case, subject to client preferences.  Because of the firm’s commitment to this concept, each client receives the best legal services available from the entire staff.  The firm’s size and structure allows the firm to handle complex matters while providing personal attention to each client’s individual needs.

Legal problems or issues rarely have ready-made solutions, and innovation is often a critical component to achieving the client’s desired result.  Our attorneys provide individually-tailored legal advice to meet the varying needs and desires of our clients.  Rather than tell our clients what we are going to do, we spend the time it takes to understand what our clients want to achieve, and then we focus our efforts towards their goals.

Through its use of the latest technology, the firm is committed to maximizing efficiency in providing our services.  Having access to the most up-to-date technology allows our attorneys to stay informed of the latest legal developments, and to stay connected with one another and with our clients.  The firm also has a strong commitment to the continuing legal education of all of its members in order to stay informed of the ever-changing law.  The firm’s members are frequent speakers at legal institutes and seminars, and the firm regularly holds seminars and legal education programs for its clients and other members of the local community.

The firm encourages its members to participate in and support charitable and community service organizations and events in their communities, and to take on pro bono work for disadvantaged individuals, churches and not-for-profit corporations and organizations.

The firm’s attorneys have served with several local charitable organizations and events, including the Boys & Girls Club of Athens, the Athens Area Cancer Auxiliary, the United Way of Northeast Georgia, Junior League of Athens, Athens Area Habitat for Humanity’s Run/Walk For Home, the Muscular Dystrophy Association’s Jail/Bail, the Athens Area Child Abuse Prevention Council, the Samaritan Counseling Center, Greene County Habitat for Humanity, Greensboro Dreamers, and the American Heart Association.  Each Fall, the firm hosts its annual Bar-B-Q, with proceeds being donated to the American Cancer Society in memory of Seab Ashley.
